You may have prayed, worked hard, pursued opportunities, and remained hopeful, yet the results seem far away. Others appear to move forward while you remain stuck in the same place year after year.

The Bible records many people who experienced seasons of delay, disappointment, and repeated setbacks before eventually entering God’s purpose for their lives. Joseph spent years in slavery and prison before becoming a ruler in Egypt. David was anointed king long before he actually sat on the throne. The Israelites experienced delays before entering the Promised Land.

The important question is not merely “Why is this happening?” but also “What can I learn, change, and do moving forward?”

I started my Masters degree course in Electrical & Electronics Engineering in the year 2005

The course duration is 18 months.

However, I could not complete the course until June 2012.

The course work is just a single academic session about a year while th final year project should be 6 months.

I completed the course work as expected in a session and my grades eventually show that I am one of the best students.

My Supervisor who was a renown Professor of Electrical Engineering and I agreed on the first project and I worked tirelessly on the project but there was no way forward.

I could not see anything unnatural at the beginning why the project could not be realizable.

It pleased my Supervisor and myself to start afresh on another Project topic.

I started another topic and through much stress I could get good results.

I had to write my Project report and I thought it was going to be a walk over. I was very far from reality.

My supervisor kept on correcting and correcting until I was fed up. There was no wit left in me to write sensibly again.

One day , my Supervisor himself had to re-write some portion of the thesis within the double space line of my write-up just for me to recopy and submit. I gladly did and thought it was all over.

To my greatest surprise, he stated another section he has earlier approved and was making another correction. This continued and I became an endless re-copier of what he has corrected.

Meanwhile all the pages he has corrected I kept them separately I gig not discard them.

I came back to him another time to show him I had made the correction just by re-copying what he has written. To my amazement he flared into terrible anger that what I had written was rubbish and started another long correction within the double-spaced lines of my write=up.

I opened my bag and brought out his correction which I had re-copied and showed him. He was actually correcting his corrected copy!

When he saw it. He said “What! what is wrong with me?”

Immediately I got the understanding that there is a spiritual attack on my progress. I started serious prayers since I could see that it was a spiritual delay. Any way to shorten the long story I completed my Masters Degree after 7 years

But that was not the end of the story

The day I brought my results back to my Department for submission one of my colleagues shouted in anger and said “What! How did it happened? How come you were able to finished?”

He had uttered those confessions before he came to himself!

If you are experiencing repeated setbacks:

1. Pray for God’s direction.
2. Examine your habits and decisions.
3. Learn from past mistakes.
4. Develop discipline and consistency.
5. Engage in spiritual warfare through prayer.
6. Remain patient during God’s timing.
7. Trust God even when progress seems slow.

Remember that delay is not always denial.

Many people who eventually succeeded experienced seasons when nothing appeared to be working.

Repeated failure and delay can be discouraging, but they do not have to define your future.

Use every setback as an opportunity to seek God’s wisdom, strengthen your faith, and make necessary adjustments.

Whether the cause is practical, spiritual, or a season of divine preparation, God is able to guide you toward progress and fulfillment of His purpose.

The story is not over simply because the journey has taken longer than expected.
